Alphabet Mural for the Perseverant

2009-08-alphamural.jpg

Sure, you could buy all the letters of the alphabet for a wall mural in one go from one source, but if you have time (and patience!) to collect them over time you'll get a more interesting, unique result like Kira did.

Looking for a more frugal alternative to an alphabet mural she'd seen in a Pottery Barn Kids catalog, Kira began collecting different letters whenever she found something she liked and that was a good deal. Hers mainly come from Goodwill, Wal-Mart and Etsy. She enlisted her kids' help painting them and she covered many with scrapbooking paper.

We like this much better than a cookie-cutter version of the alphabet and can imagine the thrill of the hunt as Kira crossed letters off her list over the course of a year. You can visit Kira at her blog, Sew. Craft. Create.

very cool...and so frugally patient. Maybe that is my budgeting problem...I'm so impatient! :)

The cool alphabet mural made me take notice of the post...and I did a double take at the creator's name. My name is Kira as well. It's a rare name, and even rarer spelled the same way as I spell mine (I see Kyra and Kiera a lot). Yay for another crafty Kira! ;)
