We remember our first set of colored pencils. It gave us the feeling that we had graduated to something bigger, more mature. If you think your little one is ready for this, go grand and get him 500 Colored Pencils.

It's a great gift for a budding young artist. Every month for 20 months (!) your little one will receive 25 colored pencils. We love this idea of getting a smaller quantity in increments. This way you can really familiarize yourself with each of the colors you receive. The colors have great names like "tea with milk" and "lobster bisque." You can read more about 500 Colored Pencils here.

Wow. $660 worth of colored pencils? That's some present!

That is just appalling to me, to teach them excess from early on... 25 pencils for 20 months? Are you serious?

Have to agree. Way over the top. 500 pencils? You could provide a year's supply to several kindergarten classes.

Or maybe we can just enjoy this post for what it is - a unique & dramatic gift (as written by the pencil people) idea... Times are tough people but there's no reason to over think a blog post on pencils!
Thanks for sharing - the picture of all the colored pencils is inspiring - makes me want to break out my coloring books from my childhood!!!

My kid has barely put a dent in 12 pencils over the course of three years. I can't imagine how long it would take us to get through 500 pencils. Great, sweet idea if it weren't such a massive amount.

gpark's post made me think of a nice gift for a child's classroom. All of the teachers I know end up spending their own money to buy school supplies at some point in the year.
Instead of spending $660 on 500 pencils for one kid, why not give the teacher a gift card to an office supply store, or sit down with the teacher to find out what he/she usually needs most, and then buy the stuff yourself.

Are they all different colors? Whoooaaaa. And I thought my prismacolor marker sets were awesome. The idea of this gift is overwhelmingly cool. I would be delighted to receive a gift like this. Forget the kids, send 'em my way ; ).

660 = 500... no.

I've seen this on other blogs but never even thought of giving them as a gift to children. I think most kids would think 25 colored pencils a month was a really really lame gift.
I would love these for myself (a 26 year old adult)

Disappointed! Cancelled after first shipment. If you want pencils will good lay-down quality, test & buy recognized brands at art supply store. Buy only if you are interested in decoration, not drawing.
