Amy Ruppel's State Insects

Even if you're afraid of bugs, we're betting you'll be won over by Amy Ruppel's series of State Insect paintings and prints featuring many of kids' favorite crawling and flying creatures. She's created a piece for each state's official state insect with the exception of a few states who don't have one (we're looking at you Michigan!).

Amy's past work has been primarily inspired by birds, but she's managed to depict dragon flies, praying mantises, bees, butterflies, ladybugs, etc. with the same alluring, colorful charm. Her original paintings are very affordable at $145 and prints are a mere $20. Find them all at Amy's site.

State of Michigan chiming in - apparently we have an unofficial inset - the Green Darner Dragon Fly.

These are so fab! Who knew that the Mass state insect was the honeybee?! I guess we're not that special though - I'm counting at least 12 states with the honeybee as their state insect.

Amy Ruppel's stuff is fantastic. I purchased one of her owl prints from Tiny Showcase last year, and it is quite lovely.

I love these prints, but I'm having trouble with the "email me!" button, and I can't find her email address. Is there another way to contact the artist so that I can place an order?
Thanks!
