apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Artwork by Gorillas

We love the use of color and light in these paintings...the perfect twist for the nursery or playroom. The artist is one of our favorites. If you're willing to shell out some cash, three of his paintings are currently up for auction on Ebay. Who is he? Okie the gorilla, of course.

That's right, Okie paints. He lives in Boston's Franklin Park Zoo and his paintings have raised thousands of dollars in the past. The proceeds will go to the zoo. Any takers?

Thanks to Parent Dish for this unique find.

OOOH these are cool! Maybe someday I can afford one. But by then I think I would want my own Gorilla, who can do paintings just for me. :]

And here is the info on some cats who paint:

By the way, exxon23, not all cats are artists... maybe the same is true for gorillas, so it might be disappointing....
As for me, I once had a cat who was a performance artist. Didn't want to make anything permanent, but was quite creative with his placement and movement at times, creating a sense of "space". Wish I had had a video camera then, to post some of his pieces (although, it's true, there weren't even any computers in people's homes back then)!
