apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Cityscape Artwork: Marion Billet

On a recent trip to visit a school, we were introduced to a collaborative art project featuring the community in which the elementary school-aged students live. It was a 20' x 20' 3-dimensional model of a part of the city with rowhomes and apartment houses, drycleaners, ice cream shops, a fire station and a church, among other things. The traveling art teacher commented on how urban the model turned out compared to those of other classes she teaches in the suburbs.

We loved seeing how aware children are to their surroundings and how they interpret everything that they see. For those living in an urban environment, consider displaying artwork with a city theme to reflect your neighborhood. We like the illustrations of Marion Billet especially Immeuble and Transports for their more city-vibe. Check out the rest of Marion's portfolio, which features all different types of settings, but all appropriate for children.
