High/Low: Pear Prints

2007-09-04-enzomari.jpg2007-09-04-paaryna.jpg

A perfect pear in honor of our month-long focus on Adornment. We longed for Enzo Mari's mod La Pera (The Pear) print (see pic left). It's striking simplicity makes it apropos for the nursery or playroom. Now in its second printing, The Pear print retails for $300 here.

If a few hundred dollars isn't in your budget but you still like the look, consider Marimekko's Paaryna fabric. We purchased a Paaryna tea towel at our local shop for $17, framed it and voila! The Paaryna pattern also comes in a larger size meant for wall hanging for about $40. Check it out here and elsewhere.

We have the Marimekko pear in our nursery and it looks really cute. Our nursery is the same green with chocolate brown accents, and although it's a bit matchy-matchy, the little brown star at the base of the fruit is such a great touch.

I love this - we just found some more really amazing contemporary artwork for our kids rooms at New Editions (http://neweditionsart.com). Beautiful things there, and a good range of prices and options for many different color schemes.
