Organized Art Center

We love stocking up on art supplies - be it purchased, found or recycled items. The key to a successful arts and crafts time is to keep things organized and easily accessible for the kids. Check out Patricia's newly freshened-up art center.

Instead of using glass jars, she opted for lightweight plastic ones instead. They look great chock full of colorful materials and are safer than heavy glass for younger ones. She also organized each of the pullout drawers in her IKEA Trofast unit and stocked them with paints, pens, paper, stamps and stickers. looks nice but i can't leave our craft supplies accessible or it takes over the house. i hate to cramp their creativity but until they learn to pick up after themselves i will keep most of it out of reach.

the plastic jars look great and affordable. I found some similar jars at the $1 store I use in my pantry.

to k8theriver—I keep most of my kids art supplies high in a closet and rotate them out to my kids table. It seems to keep the mess down and keep them trying new things. I posted about it recently: http://giverslog.com/?p=743

great idea! how about a post on a suggested assortment of supplies and crafting ideas for different ages? I need some good mail- order sources because there aren't any good local sources.
