We recently spied these Play-Doh ads, from Singapore, online and thought they were hilarious. Another friend of ours saw them and thought they were disgusting.

The ads feature a myriad of dangerous items your child can create using Play-Doh -- but hey, it's O.K. It's only Play-Doh. With the tagline, "Safe no matter what you make" you are introduced to a Play-Doh chainsaw, blade, bottle of pills, matches and more.
What do you think? Clever advertising or not so much?

Clever as advertising for adults. Kids wouldn't get the humor.

I agree with slobound - playdough is used by LITTLE kids, and they won't understand that pill bottles can be off limits sometimes but not other times.

Not cool.

The point is to draw adults' attention to the fact that Play-Doh is safe, which is a very relevant topic these days. The ads are clearly not targeted at kids. I think it looks like a very witty (and, by the attention it is getting) potentially successful campaign.
After all, kids don't need to be told to love Play-Doh. Its those of us who have to clean grains of it out of our rugs that need convincing.

Oh my god it's funny. lol

I'm sure these are running in parenting magazines, not targeted to kids. Very cool!

I agree with standupstapler. The razor one is very shocking, though.

These ads are fake - created only to run once so they can be entered in award shows. Hasbro never really approved them. You can read about it here:
