When we were growing up, we remember picking out a couple of prints of women reading for our room. The room above belongs to twin ten year olds who collect vintage lady portraits.

This fun idea comes to us from O Magazine. Apparently the girls created the collection themselves when their mother would take them to flea markets and tell them each to pick out a portrait.
We love how this idea creates both decor and a meaningful collection AND quality time and outings with family!
Via Swish and Swanky.
Holy cow, that small ornate one closest to the bed is a Maxfield Parrish print, i have the same one (larger) in my dining room and it's my prize possession!
Kido's got taste! Bratz doll notwithstanding ;).

that's very sweet, but the Indian god image on the top right is a man- Lord Krishna- I know , he does look like a woman...

@Suhita, that was my first thought, too, upon seeing the picture.
I guess they could be forgiven since they're 10 years old, but um, I'm itching to take that out of their "lady" collection.

I'm so glad someone else noticed this as well...I've seen this image in a couple of different places and it always thrown by the wall of ladies...and Krishna. I know it doesn't matter, I'm just weird like that. Also weird is that I feel such a sense of relief in sharing this info. (I'm such a dweeb!)

I can't believe I'm mentioning this, but specific personal stories read very oddly when told in the "we" voice. It makes perfect sense for the site most of the time, but really? Everyone who blogs here chose lady pictures for their bedroom?
Anyway, the collection is great, though--in spite of the male deity.

Very nice portrait collection!
This post made me think of a lovely calendar I saw at the bookstore the other night. It is a year's worth of portraits of women reading.
