We used to think we were pretty good at testing a product's duarbility until we saw what the folks over at Olympus put their new Stylus Tough cameras through (a daycare full of kids). We'd like to introduce to you a camera that has been sunk in a fish tank, made into an ice cream sundae, stomped on, painted upon.... and lived to tell the tale. Try to keep your mouth closed as you watch the videos of their torture after the jump.

None of that really means much until you watch what happens when a day care releases full furry on the claims that this camera makes. We cringed through most of these thinking to ourselves, "Don't do it, kid... please don't do it! Ack they did it!" See if you have the same reaction. I have had two earlier versions of this camera and I'm somewhat happy with it. The first one worked fine, just didn't take the best photos (the reviews agreed with me) I lost it though.
I now have a stylus 1030sw which is waterproof, drop proof and crushproof. Somehow I've managed to break it twice. It wasn't abused right before it broke each time either. The first time the shutter stopped working, the second time the LCD stopped working. It's under warranty though and they cover EVERYTHING in these type of camera. I do have to pay approx $18 to send it in though, but with a $400 camera it seems worth it. I haven't sent in yet the second time though because I can still sorta take pictures with the LCD broken. It's hard to be without a camera.
It's great fun to use though. I take it swimming with me, wash it off when it's dirty. It takes great underwater photos. I even had it in my pocket while tubing down the river for a few hours. I use a name badge clip attached to the cord to keep it attached to my pocket. I let my 4 year old use it all the time. He poured sand into the shutter of my nikon coolpix and ruined it.
