Hot or Not? Combi iPod Bouncer

2009-04-combiipod.jpg

There's no doubt that there are more attractive bouncer options these days, but if you desire one with a musical option you may have to tolerate sounds akin to a merry-go-round all day. The Combi iPod Bouncer lets you plug your iPod in and choose your own music. Hmmmnnn...

This would make life so much happier if the price were right.

Honestly, why not buy a less expensive chair and turn on the stereo? This seems like a waste of money to me.

Oh, just checked the price and I would be happy to dish out a little extra for this option. It's not only a great choice for parents with low tolerance for those whiny pre-programmed songs that get stuck in your head, it's an interesting design.

This way, you can still offer your little one soothing or age appropriate songs, but from your own library.

I actually owned this chair (in the green color). We got it as a shower gift. We put some of those rock-a-bye lullabies on an ipod and always kept it hooked up. It was nice to have a music option that didn't make me want to stick sharp objects in my ears.

Aside from that though, It is a very nice bouncer. Batteries did last a pretty long time in it. I liked that you could adjust the seating so that he could lay down completely in it and then also sit in more of a reclined position than completely flat. The shade helped for when we needed things to be a little darker.

The toys on it are kind of a bust to be honest. Sort of boring and the bar comes off too easily so I usually left that off.

My kiddo slept in it for the first 8 weeks when we were dealing with all sorts of reflux issues so for that, it was well worth the money for me.

I also own this in green and really like it. We keep it downstairs where we don't have a stereo, so keeping the iPod in it for music works well. My little one (now 5 months) is just getting into this chair - initially she wasn't too keen on it. But now I can put her in it, attach longer toys to the toy bar (I agree with jensational, the toys that are on there aren't too exciting, and are too far away for her to reach), turn on the vibes and the music, and she will often sit for a half hour or so while I clean the kitchen or make dinner. Plus I really like how it looks.

I have this one...it does look nice in person. There are a few drawbacks - it has a large footprint and so is not easy to move from room to room. Also, it is not quite as bouncy as other bouncy chairs. But it worked great just sitting in our living room - looked good and our son was usually happy sitting in it.

The IPod feature is ok...didn't use it much as the speakers make everything sound pretty bad. But it was a nice break from preprogrammed songs.

we got this as a gift and didn't have much luck with it - looks great, but agree that the toys are a bust & the bar comes off too easily - and unfortunately the first time I put my daughter in it, she puked from the vibrations! argh. It's also very limited in function - we had much better luck with a swing which allows change of speeds & has more interesting dangling toys. Much easier & more practical, I think, to play your own music from another source......

I loved the green one but I was told you can't remove the seat cover for washing. A big problem when the little poop machines do their thing. We have the Dwell Fisher Price bouncy seat from Target which also has the MP3 attachment and love it so far.

I have this, in green. (I like the red though!)

We generally like it fine, just as a safe holding place for baby while we are in the shower, etc. She would often nap in it when she was tiny. It is sturdy and does not scoot around on slick floors. And it looks cool.

We thought the iPod feature was a plus, but we have only used it about twice, because our baby finds the music and seat vibration annoying.

The toys are a bit lame, and the toy bar cannot be used as a handle. There is a warning message on the bar to this effect, but it faces the baby! So it's funny to watch visitors try to use the bar as a handle. It comes right off when you try (as it should).

Annoyingly, if you pick up the bouncer by the seat to try to move it to another room, the seat sometimes detaches from the base, which clatters to the floor, and can be tripped on. Also, the legs on the base protrude quite far from the seat, which can be a trip hazard.

For $15 less (not a huge cost difference, I know), you can buy the DwellStudio for Target Fisher Price bouncer which also comes with the iPod docking station. We're really happy with ours!

We picked one of these up off Craigslist for $40. When we move it it has to be picked up by the base or it some times falls off. Other than that, no complaints. I wouldn't have paid full retail for it.
