Taking your kids to the White House this summer? If you can't make the trip, many books and online resources make it easy to explore the White House from home. How did you do it?: The Embassy building and residence was designed by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1947. The garden playhouse and soccer nets were added for the Ambassador's children. The playhouse has a Danish flag, of course. Jim and Amy carefully mix modern pieces with vintage finds in their mid-century modern house. Located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, the house was unchanged from the 1950's when it was built until Jim and Amy moved in last year.
