Q:My daughter will be two on Christmas and I am trying to come up with a fun, simple, and yet memorable way to celebrate her birthday. The problem is that we do a lot of traveling around the holidays. This year, we will be staying with some of my husband’s family in Minneapolis and it seems a little impolite to ask them to let us host a birthday party at their home on top of all of the Christmas preparations that will be going on.

When I picked up this birthday present (for my husband, a skateboarder & gamer) I had no idea that I was purchasing a Yves Behar design....but but I was. This new controller (just launched yesterday - we preordered) looks and feels like a skateboard sans wheels and makes your carpet into a full fledged skatepark.

Color Inspiration: I fell in love with the bedding and then really wanted a strong color for the walls so everything would pop against it.

Color Inspiration: I was actually originally inspired by last year's winner, Julianna's Rainbow Room. I like how there wasn't one dominant color or theme in the room. I always liked Tiffany blue, but I didn't want a typical blue boy's room.

Color Inspiration: I wanted to use bright, modern, but girly colors and shapes. Being an artist and an art teacher, I thought it would be great to feature original black and white artwork for the baby to look at, and to contrast with the corals, pinks, and mustard yellows.

Color Inspiration: I wanted our nursery to be colorful and interesting for our little one to look at. The "old school" images were the initial inspiration and then I just built on that.

Color Inspiration:My inspiration for this room came from a polka-dot baby blanket that I made for my daughter. The blanket is at the foot of her bed in one of the pictures she still uses it as a toddler.
