apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Best Of: Hampers

bestof040908.jpgWhile most of the time, we just want to chuck our dirty clothes on the floor it's probably a better idea to put contain the grubbies in a hamper. Here are a few hampers that tickle our fancy.

Teaching my daughter to put her dirty clothes in her hamper has been the GREATEST thing! Even when she's in her room by herself and wants to change clothes, she knows to put her clothes in. It's awesome!

We use an empty laundry basket as a hamper that way when it is full I know there is a load or two that needs to be done. It helps to keep on top of the task and not have to spend all day doing laundry. I always lament the weeks when the clothes end up in a pile on the floor and then I end up with 5 loads of laundry to do over the weekend.

My 20m son loves to toss his clothes into the basket and we cheer when he makes it or pick it up and give him another opportunity when it falls outside the rim.

We have the Nest JAX one & although it's a little pricier, it is easy to put together & take apart, great because it's organic cotton & eco-friendly wood, has a hard top so things can be stacked on it and you can wash the cotton part when it gets dirty (which is ideal when it holds dirty clothes)! I had several pop-up styles, but they all started to fall about after about a year of use and the wood ones are awkward (you can't easily carry those down to a basement to do laundry!) & don't look as nice in a kid's room. The Nest one really holds up & it looks stylish too:)
