apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Flexibath

102309flexibath.jpgAvailable in December of this year in the US, the Flexibath comes to us from Danish company, A Real Cool World. This has got to be the coolest baby bath we've ever seen. Here's why...

This just seems like the bath we would've designed for ourselves. (Maybe that's because it's designed by parents yet again). Here's why we're loving it:

• It's hard plastic but easily folds up for super easy storage.

• Not only is it easy to store away, but it looks really cool and comes in lots of great colors.

• It has a non-slip bottom and though it's only black right now- it will soon have a drain plug that changes color when the water is the right temperature.

• The tub isn't made with any harmful chemicals- no PVC or BPA.

• When the color-changing drain comes out in 2010, it'll be the only one of it's kind to not use BPA for this technology.

Now- we just need to find out the price, and hopefully it's doable. Read all about the Flexibath here. What do you think?

genius! i can't wait to see it when it arrives in the US. it looks a bit bigger than normal baby tubs which would be perfect for my one year old w/special needs. i could prop her up with towels or a bath pillow. she is quickly outgrowing the sink and would have way too much room in the bathroom tub! thx for sharing!

And when the kid outgrows it, it can double as a toy bin or an ice bin for parties. I see it having a lot of uses over its lifetime.

its cute looking and probably pretty multi-functional, but it doesnt look that comfortable for a baby unless they're already sitting... and even then, theyd likely need some back support...

It's super cute, but I don't think I'd find it very useful. At $58, I'd rather just put a bath towel on the bottom of the tub w/ a couple of inches of water and call it good. & really, how much BPA can leak out of a drain plug anyway? - especially at normal baby-safe water temperatures?

Another unnecessary child product...but it is cute.

Looks like it would be great for travel -- good way to avoid gnarly rental home or hotel tubs.

We're so starved for space, and we have only one bathroom- this is perfect for us, and I will be one of the first in line to snap one up in December- I would rather pay the extra price to be able to fold it up and put it away, rather than have to stumble over a molded plastic tub.

Does anyone know where we'll be able to buy this tub?
