High/Low: Blanket Coverage

2007-01-23-nume

We spotted this simple yet fun blanket from Italian firm Nume. Blanket1 is made of wool, hand embroidered, and features a pocket that houses a gingerbread man-like figure in the pocket.

Nume’s philosophy is that pure form without added decoration brings out the essential nature of the object, which helps to foster a child’s imagination and cognitive development.

The website doesn’t offer a price. You have to contact them to get that information (so we’re going to assume it’s expensive).

On the other end of the price spectrum, we found this lower-priced version at the local Old Navy and snatched it up right away. (It's now $6.99 and also available in red with cream stitching).

In the Old Navy version, the little bear who lives in the pocket has a face and a bell stitched inside, making him friendlier and more recognizable to babes than his faceless more expensive counterpart.
