What a simple way to add that personal touch to a child's room. Instead of having a fussy sham, you can dress up a plain white pillowcase like crafter Jana did for her friend's daughter, Avery.

We love the choice of colors here, and if you didn't want to do a name, you could leave it at the little butterfly, or do something similar: an owl, giraffe, or other animal.
Thanks for the idea Jana and Kidshaus.
Alicia Paulson (of the Posie Gets Cozy blog) has a similar project in her book Stitched in Time, but instead of names she appliques phone numbers to pillowcases. That way, if the kid leaves their pillow behind at a slumber party, the hosts know what number to call.

This is really cool, my Mathew liked it so much. I did not do it by myself, I've bought it here: http://www.linenkids.com/linen-cushion-personalized-applique-p-354.html
I have chosen my child's name and now we have that personal touch in his room. Highly recommend you to make one by yourself or buy one as I did.

My aunt did this for us when we were little. but it was on the edge part so our faces didn't lay on the stitching.

Really Cute idea! My brother's name is Avery, too!

When I was about 6 years old I went to a sleep-over at my best friend's house. The crafty Mom had each child at the party select their favorite fabrics, and she made us each a pillow-case appliqued with our name on it that we slept on that night. I still have it, and treasure it to this day. (In retrospect she was a VERY cool Mom!!)
