Brooklyn Designs was a bit smaller this year overall, but it was bigger for two exhibitors: Argington and Casa Kids by Roberto Gil. These two had big spaces which were outside the hall and facing the street, making it easy to see their new stuff. While we don't generally feature folks we've featured before (we look for new stuff), these two had some really nice new designs for design minded parents....

>> Argington - Jenny Argie and Andrew Thornton showed off these brand new baby and kid's beds in pure bamboo, and auctioned them off for charity. The bamboo finish was beautiful and very expensive, but they're introducing these two new pieces in a more affordable version shortly. We particularly liked the multi-functioning kid's bed with desk space built in.

>> CASAKiDS - Roberto Gil's designs have evolved over the past few years in a really nice way. From being a bit of a Netto clone, he's now got a lovely modernist feeling and simplicity in his furniture that reminds us of Jean Prouve. The bunk bed is a good example with its decorative holes that lighten the overall piece and the desk that make it perfect for a growing kid.
Both these designs and Argington are good for smaller spaces, where you need to get a lot out of a little.

Ola! Crib with Treasure Chair - The Crib expands into a toddler bed
Mmmm-mmmm...I like them all! Makes me want to have a 3rd baby just to try out that snazzy crib/changing table combo and boot my 2 boys to a bunk!

These creations are wonderful! I specially like the crib. I've been buying hair bows for my incoming baby girl and my husband's been telling me that we should be looking for a crib now. We still have 3 months and a half though. Now that I've seen this beautiful craft, we'll check out the multi-functioning kid's bed with desk space built in.

i hate to rail on a company that is eco-friendly (for lack of a better term) and one that is stylish at that but we had a HORRIBLE experience with argington. awful, awful, customer service--so much so that i tell everyone i know not to ever buy their products.
it's a long story but the gist is that we waited over a year for an item we ordered (a highchair). and when it did come it was broken. when we called to complain we were told we "weren't important enough" and "they had plenty of other customers".
we lucked out because the store we ordered from has exemplary customer service and they took the broken chair back and gave us credit so that we could order a different one.
we were not the only people this happened to.
i wouldn't buy anything from them. no one should be told they aren't important enough to do business with. this incident is over a yr old and it still makes my blood boil just thinking about it!

Hi, this is Andrew (co-designer and co-owner of Argington). This is in regard to the third comment from the clearly disatisfied and seemingly vengeful purchaser of the babylon highchair, we are suprised by your confident admission to boycott Argington furniture.
Personally speaking, I simply wouldn't allow anyone within my organization to speak to you or any of my other customers that way. We always treat our customers with courtesy and respect, nor is it our practice to make customers feel less important than others. We stand behind our products, and approach each problem with sensitivity and a desire for customer resolution. We would like to understand the root of your problem, and give you the service we provide to all our customers. Please reach out to me at info@argington.com and provide me with your personal information (i.e. name and from which retailer you purchased the chair).
we look forward to assisting.
Many thanks.
Sincerely,
Andrew Thornton
