Good Question: Teen Bed Set

tearoselilacbedsetGQ.jpg

Maggie sent us an email: "My daughter, who is 15, recently saw a bedroom set she completely fell in love with. While she swears she saw it in a Pottery Barn catalog, we can't find it anywhere. She says it was light blue with a lot of curves around the headboard and some flowers. The dressers were also blue. Any suggestions?"

Well, Maggie we think we have solved the mystery. The bed set your daughter was looking at was probably the Heirloom bed set available on PB Teen, a subsidiary of Pottery Barn, and we can see why she's in love with the bed!

A French-inspired set, the bed is a designed with delicate floral carvings on the headboard and feet. The bed can also accommodate a trundle for sleep overs. The bed starts at $699 for a twin, and the bedside table is $349.

Readers, do you have any bedding recommendations for Maggie? What color scheme would you use?

I would go with some coral/tangerine or red as an accent. Would like nice with some crisp white and bright accents.

Oh man, I HAD an almost identical as a teen. It served me well through my college years, too. Then I got a queen bed and it didn't fit. My mom painted the bed chocolate brown to use in her room and it looks great.

I sure as heck didn't pay 1000 for the bed. I got it at a junk shop for 30 bucks and a bottle of furniture cleaner. I'm sorry but 1000 for a bed that she may or may not use in 5 years? Eeek. I would have to think long and hard about spending that much on a bed now. I'd much rather spend 100 bucks at a flea market and get a can of paint.

Also, it isn't light blue. The catalog images show it as turquoise. I really love it, personally.
