IKEA Hack for Co-Sleeping or Toddler Bed

2007-10-16-ikeahack.jpg

A simple idea. We spotted this IKEA hack, a workable solution for co-sleepers or maybe for a toddler bed.

A pre-existing bed frame was fitted with a Lack wall shelf to prevent baby or toddler from rolling off. Easy and cheap.

The corners of that shelf look pretty sharp! Ouch!

Did you know there have been deaths from children caught in bed rails, but never from falling out of bed? (Not counting top bunks, of course.) Letting them learn to sleep in a bed without rails is really the safer bet.

yes, too sharp. i've noticed a lot of cribs with really sharp corners, too. i wonder why.

It looks nice but it doesn't really seem to come up high enough to act as a guardrail. A shallower mattress would help.
