IKEA Hack: Kura Loft Bed

2009-07-01-kura.JPG

We've previously extolled the virtues of the loft bed for those with small spaces. So we're happy to see another high-end entrant into the market. The price tag? About $120, but you won't find this at your favorite retail store. Jump below for all the details...

This loft bed is actually the IKEA Kura, beautifully hacked by mom of four, Vanessa. Vanessa wrote into tell us about her project:

I wanted to share my Ikea Kura bed project. I was inspired by two posts: one on Ohdeedoh featuring a chalkboard application to the Kura bed, and the other on AT with a sideboard project featuring wall panels from inhabitliving. All of a sudden a light bulb turned on and I combined the two projects. I quickly ordered wall panels from the damaged section at inhabit for 1/2 price and got a kura bunk on craigslist- making the total cost of the project $120! They were very easy to install {I believe, thank you husband} and took about two hours for the project. I also loved the bedding used in the clean + modern in seattle room tour and ran out and bought the ikea bedding just in time- it was on closeout for $20.

And there you have it. A one-of-a-kind loft bed at an unbeatable price. Thanks for sharing, Vanessa!

I love it. This is just the kind of ingenuity I love to see on AT. I also like to buy Ikea stuff from craigslist.
