Muu's Sam Twin Bed

muu-samtwinbedTOP.jpgIt finally took a cool bed to get our son to want to sleep in a bed all his own. Will Muu's Sam Twin Bed be the bed that works for you? Claiming to be able to "take your child all the way from kindergarten to high school", we recently checked out the Sam and we have to say we love many of the features it has to offer.

Made with a solid maple base and available with a clear finish or walnut stain, the Sam Twin Bed is a customizable bed that can change as your child's tastes do.

The headboard panels on the Sam can be replaced over the years with the help of 8 illustration series to choose from and several color selections. So, if your child likes whales at age 4 there's no need to worry if they'll be into cowboys at age 8 or rock bands at 12. Mix it up as often as you like.

Our favorite feature of the Sam Twin Bed is the slim side shelving that resides in the headboard. It's just the right size for books, magazines, video games and CDs.

$1,395 for a twin bed??? The customizable concept is great but very DIYable for way under a grand. Thanks to an ohdeedoh post, we bought our son the IKEA Kura loft bed for his fifth birthday and did the chalkboard finish hack. He now "customizes" it every so often on his own according to his interests--Ancient Egypt, Star Wars, cityscapes, Ben-10 Alien Force (G-d help us). No expensive panels to purchase or limited selection from which to choose. Only requirements are a box of chalk and an unlimited imagination! Also, add new meaning to "go make your bed" (and, sadly, is probably the only kind of bed making that will ever get done in our house).

Wow! Very expensive for something that is probably going to have stickers and crayon scribbles all over it at some point.

I like the style of the bed, but it's still just a bed. Does spending $1300 get you a better night's sleep? LOL! I can totally see a DIY hack to be made from that idea.
