One usually has images of stodgy, bland pieces when thinking of bunk beds. Philippe Allaeys's bunk beds are definitely ones to break that mold. These cantilevered beds are so gorgeous, we know they will have you rethinking bunk beds as well.

Well you've got to have faith that your kid will never fall from the bunked with a design with no guard rail whatsoever. Silly.

I would think a guard rail would be necessary as well.

I would like to see the cantilever bracketing system used for something like this. Although I just peeped at the pic again and noticed that the bed is actually wedged into walls on either end so it could be supported from three walls. I wonder if they could be cantilevered on only one wall and still be strong enough.
