Easidream: Making Your Crib More Womb-Like

100609-easidream2.jpg The Easidream is a new bit of technology aimed at getting your little ones to sleep sooner. There's a glowing sheep with a heartbeat and an air mattress that moves. Now that we think of it, it kind of looks like a day at sea — white noise and motion sickness...

"It’s a revolutionary baby sleep aid, a soothing system that helps ease the transition from womb to world. It can be used from birth in almost any cot and helps your baby establish a healthy sleep pattern by closely mimicking certain sensations from the womb and recreating these within the cot. This ‘womb experience’ helps trigger a calming reflex in your baby so reducing crying time and inducing quality sleep." -Easidream Website

Perhaps the best way to describe the Easidream, isn't with words, it's with pictures. Check out the video below to see how this system has the ability to lull your little ones to sleep with a little help from technology.

Although this is probably as close as you can get to the womb, the unit retails for close to $400(US) and somehow that seems like a pretty hefty pricetag on your sleep. Although after 3 nights in a row without more than an hour of shut eye, we'd do just about anything!

I need one, I have been up all night - my baby will only sleep if I rock his mattress - I am so tired, my baby is so tired - priceless for sleep and growth. my other babies slept no problem - i think it worth looking into - gonna check the website

seems a little ridiculous... and one more way to teach our children to depend on technology and THINGS rather than us as their parents.

judiAU - couldn't agree with you more!! :)

Buzybee~ Before you spend the $$$, you should try getting a vibrating bouncer or baby hammock that rocks and you can buy stuffed animals that have womb sounds like white noise or heart beats to put next to them. $400 is pretty pricey if it ends up not working. (Although if $$ isn't a issue, I'd say go for it....especially if you're sleep deprived!)

Just get a vibrating bouncy seat. My son loves his. $20 at a garage sale and it was like brand new.

Eh, I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me thinks, "Co-sleeping is free, why bother with these silly contraptions?" And the other part of me thinks, "Sometimes co-sleeping doesn't actually result in much sleeping. And robots are cool!"

Looks like yet another YMMV machine, just like the rest of them (including the bouncy seat.. my son had enough of that by four months old!)

*shrug* :)

i'm a breast-feeding, co-sleeper who doesn't get much sleep. 2 hour stretches at most for nearly 8 months. my son never cared for the bouncy seat or the car seat, and at this point, i doubt even a Sleep Sheep would work. the mattress is on the floor and i've resigned myself to many more sleepless nights and napless days...
