And...voila! Its a Frankencouch! A modern bunk bed, complete with a bit of a modesty screen at one end. Chill lounge couch by day, cool bunk bed at night. There is even a safety railing. We wonder what keeps all that hardware from crashing into one's face as they slide the two parts of the sofa apart, and we also wonder if this is do-able by just one person, or if we would need some help.

Talk about double-duty furniture! We think a Doc Sofa Bed/Bunkbed would be great in an older kid's room. Maybe your nursery occupant is a teenager, or a college student, or maybe you want a guest room but don't want a huge bed taking up so much space when nobody is sleeping over - this sure beats a tired old futon couch.
Even if this just stayed a couch, or folded out into a regular bed, it would be a good piece of furniture - strong color, nice lines, cool and modern.
How much does the Doc Sofa Bed/Bunk Bed retail for? We don't know. We do know that the lower bunk is foam, and the top bunk is a sprung mattress, and the whole thing together would be a very cool addition to a teenager's room.

This thing is crazy! I would love to try it out in person to see how sturdy the beds feel.

I've seen it in person and now I regret not testing it out. Maybe I'll have to go back (IDC in Estero, FL) for anyone who is local.

Wow! That is crazy -- but in a good way. I wonder if you would need really high ceilings?

it's like Transformers for furniture.
Oh, now I sound like a total dork :(

When I was a college student still living with the 'rents, I would have thought this was the last word in cool. It also would have moved beautifully into a studio apartment later.
