If you or your kids have ever witnessed a bird crash into your window, you know it can be traumatic for you and the bird. One way to prevent this is to break up the reflection which helps birds know that the window is a solid (sometimes deadly) barrier. Karen and her kids love to birdwatch from their large window and made a hanging "birdhouse" garland for just this reason.
We especially love the materials they used - pages from a birding field guide make up the body of the house and scrap paper glued to card stock make up the roof. Karen also affixed tiny mirrors to reflect light and further warm the birds. They hung the birdhouses from branches which is fitting as well as attractive. Happy birdwatching guys!

I have to share this picture with you, taken when the sun hit my mom's window just right... poor bird, but fascinating print...
