The title of this recent article in the New York Times is "When Perfect is Not the Goal", however, we think this is just perfect! Pamela Bell enlisted her children Elenore, 13, Anabel, 11, and Will, 7 to implement many of the design details throughout the house with some fun results.
With everything from paint colors picked out by the children to a John Derian sofa which was decorated with fabric markers, the house is a wonderful mix of classic elements, quirk and warm signs of family life, "It is Ms. Bell’s conviction that the house belongs not so much to her as to her children, and the choices she makes on a daily basis support that."

Am I the only one who doesn't really care for the sofa? The other ideas I love, but the sofa looks like my canvas trapper keeper from 7th grade with all of my "I heart NKOTB" scribbles all over it. :S
To each, his (or her) own. :)

I love it. I love the color and the whimsy of the whole space. Brava!
Now I have a back-up plan to think about when my sky-blue couch starts to show dirt: purposeful coloring with fabric markers, so the dirt blends in! :D
