Fun with forts. When you're young and small, the world seems overwhelming. Furniture is adult-sized and therefore, giant, ceilings are sky-high, and furniture is often off-limits to sticky hands.
The current issue of Wondertime highlights forts, a kid-centric creation that helps children make their own little world.
Temporary, easy to construct (and deconstruct) with materials readily on hand in any home, Wondertime shows some good examples of forts and explains how to make them.
From basic forts (draping sheets over furniture) to more advanced structures (begging appliance boxes from Sears and creating mini houses for your kids with windows and doors), they show good photos and interesting text to accompany.
But more than the text or photos (since ultimately, part of the beauty of building a fort is the experimentation), we were happy to read about buiding forts, one of our own personal favorite childhood activities that anyone can do, regardless of income or space — all you need is a couch, some chairs, and a couple of sheets.
