Happy Gloves by Miyako Kanamori

Are you planning on making some of your own holiday gifts this year? We recommend Happy Gloves, the follow-up to the popular Sock and Glove (both by Miyako Kanamori). We can tell you from experience that these softies, made from gloves are relatively easy, fast and fun to make.

We don't knit or crochet but we love the look and feel of yarn animals so using cheap or even recycled gloves is a terrific solution. These softies require some simple hand sewing that an older child could do. And you can engage a younger child to help with the planning (picking out the glove and thread colors for example) and helping you with the stuffing.

There are so many charming animals to make from this book - all with clear instructions and diagrams. A chipmunk, donkey, penguin, lion, tiger, frog, duck, cat, rabbit, polar bear, and elephant are joined by some non-animal softies including a little girl, a car, a flower, a teacup, and food. Definitely something for everyone.

So round up some friends and their kids and make some happy gloves! (Find the book here or at your local bookshop).
