Hot or Not? BCelebrated Memorial Website

111809BCELEBRATED2.jpgThere's a lot about this that makes sense, and a lot that just sounds so strange to us. Basically, you create private pages with special messages for loved ones, as well as add your contacts so that someone can "activate" it and let them know of your death and services.

What makes sense about it is once you have children, you do start thinking about writing a will and having things in order.

Here's a quote from the company:
“No one tells you that as soon as you have a baby you’ll start thinking about death. When my first son was born I started worrying about what would happen to him if I died before he was grown. How would he ever know how much I love him”, says Michele Sommers of Chicago IL."

True, but is BCelebrated the answer? For some people, it may be. You can also add photos and videos and other important information for your loved ones.

But what about having all your contacts notified by email of your death and memorial services?

I think in many ways it is a good idea, but I also think the picture is a little strange. I really hope that grandparents aren't asking their young grandchildren for help filling it in.

what email address do the notifications come from? a friend of mine from college died a few years ago, suddenly and unexpectedly. her husband logged onto her email account and emailed everyone in her address book to let us know. it was rather shocking to open up an email from a friend to discover she was dead.

I no longer subscribe to a newspaper and sometimes I would discover sad and shocking news in the obituary section. As the computer is replacing the local paper, it makes sense to have a new way to transmit death notices. People have to find out somehow. That picture is not in sync with the subject matter.

Tell people you love them while you're alive. Simple as that.
