Nursery Artwork Displays Martha's Way

2007-02-08-clothesline.jpgSimplicity is sometimes the most striking when it comes to art in the nursery. Martha Stewart has four great art projects for busy parents or parents-to-be to help get you started.

We love using clothespins to decorate. This simple wooden device has such a classic elegance about it. Along with a little cotton twill tape, you can use them in the nursery to create a keepsake clothesline to hang just about anything- cards, drawings, photos, or even- little clothes.

Another simple idea: spell out your child's name with found items- scrap paper, objects, stencils, and use encase them in box frames. The possibilities are endless and choosing the letters could even make a fun project for an older child.

2007-02-08-fabrics.jpg We love framing beautiful paper and fabric so we're big fans of this fabric collage. Just wrap canvases of different shapes and sizes in fabrics of different colors, patterns and textures, and staple them on. This is also the kind of art that still works in an older child's room. It's such a pretty idea, we love it for any room in the house.

Check out Martha's website for more details on these nursery art projects.

These look like great projects. What child wouldn't love to see his name on the wall? I love the clothesline. Hanging up all those pictures, etc. that the chldren make and hanging them. The children will be very proud. Thanks.

I so am in love with the clothes pin design. I can totally see this being apart of a nursery that has sort of a Paris street market theme. Love it. Thanks so much for including this.

We have a peg rail at about 6.5 feet high around our nursery and it's great for hanging art, the clothespins remind me of it.

We have white string up near the ceiling on 3 walls of my son's room and have clothes-pinned illustrated alphabet cards to it. He is 19 mos old & likes to point at the cards and make the sounds of the animals in the pictures. When he's older, he can move on to identifying the letters themselves.
