Steve Mack's ABC

The Mack Daddy of ABC books. There are lots of great ABC books out there, but Steve Mack’s ABC: An Illustrated Alphabet Compendium A to Z is one of our favorites. It stands out from the pack for its charm, humor and creative illustrations. Along with teaching the a’s, b’s, and c’s, the illustrations will make you smile and often chuckle.

We’ll also admit to having a blog crush (a blush?) on Spot Illustration where you can see more of Steve's work and follow along as he works on a companion counting book.

We love that the book is self-published which goes to show the devotion and time spent on this project as well as his confidence in his own work.

I'm still a big fan of the classic Dr. Seuss's ABC's, but then the R verse does go "Big R, little r, Rosy Robin Ross, Rosy's going riding on her red rhinoceros!"
So maybe I'm a little biased...

That is one cute alligator on the cover. And I LOVE that you can preview the book online! This should be mandatory for all illustrated children's books.

Rosie, I love the Dr. Seuss book, too, though my little guy prefers Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.
