One of the cornerstones of the Montessori method is teaching young children to take care of themselves and their environment. To do this, Dr. Maria Montessori emphasized the importance of providing age-appropriate tools scaled down to child size. Regardless of the teaching philosophy you follow, these handmade brooms, which are as functional as they are lovely, would encourage anyone to take them for a spin around the floor.

Featuring broomcorn grown on a Tennessee farm and sustainably harvested hickory wood for the handle, each broom is made using time-honored techniques on antique machinery. When not in use, they would look beautiful resting in a corner of a playroom or child's room... coincidentally, inviting children to use them again and again.

I love this idea. My son is only 14 months old and everytime we sweep in our garden he wants to as well. :-) So sweet. I should buy one for him.

same here. whenever i take out the broom or swiffer my daughter tries to use it herself and ends up bonking her head or breaking something with it. tiny broom time.

Yes! These are GORGEOUS. Several bristles fell out upon immediate use but it seems to be getting better.

I have a similar little broom (not as cute as these though!) and it is so cute when I'm sweeping up after lunch and my 17 month old shows up with her own little broom to "help."
