Kid-Size Miele Vacuum Cleaner

miele-vacuum.jpgLet's answer the first question you want to ask: yes, this kid-size version of the regular Miele vacuum actually works. What more do you need to know?

While we love the idea of putting our three-year-old in charge of Sunday-night vacuum detail (Maria Montessori would be so proud), it seems like this battery-operated working replica is actually designed more for practice use.

Included with the vacuum is a package of polystyrene balls that your child can clean up using one of the three suction settings. With three different attachments and a repositionable nozzle, the mini-Miele should satisfy even the most verisimilitude-loving young 'un. And hey, it's all good practice for later, right?

So, a couple of years ago I bought a small eureka vacuum with a telescopic handle. It's the perfect size for the kids to use with the handle not extended, lightweight and it really works. Maybe it's like this one:

They can see the stuff they vacuum up because it has a clear canister. And it cost us about $40. I totally have my 7 and 4 year old help with the vacuuming and they love love love it. So do their friends. Just thought I'd share--maybe another option for parents out there. (I think they sell them at Bed Bath and Beyond too, and you could always use your 20% off coupon that you get every two weeks on that!)

Through a particulate analysis on YouTube, I show how well the Miele vacuum works and truly traps the dust. My findings prove that the Miele Vacuum is completely sealed and really is HEPA.
Miele Vacuum Video As Featured on ABC 7 News
You can see from this video that the Miele will trap all of the particles in a cloth like bag that self-seals on its way out and you are actually purifying the air in your house by vacuuming! The filtration is 99.95% effective at 0.3 microns which is amazing. Thanks to its HEPA filter and super intensive clean bags the vacuum is able to achieve this kind of filtration.

Our five-year-old uses our *real* Miele, on the lowest setting (it's a little harder to push if I put it on any higher). Works great for picking up crumbs, etc. and she's learning to help around the house. Her little brother pushes the canister around after her, when he's not trying to sit on the thing. Play and clean at the same time! :)
