Color Combination: Blue + Orange Revisited

2009-10-06.png

A color combination we're always drawn to is blue and orange. We love a cool, serene blue punctuated with blasts of hot orange. It's perfect for a nursery belonging to a boy or a girl.

The orange and blue in this nursery is done just right. The walls remain white but the floor is light blue. If you can't paint your floors, a blue colored area rug or carpet tiles can give a similar effect. There are lots of orange and blue elements here, but it doesn't come off as being matchy-matchy. Anyone else like an orange and blue palette?

Oh my, I am really in love with this bedding; can you please tell me where it is from? Also, what is that rocker in the corner? This room is beautiful!

The storage bench looks like it's probably Cubits or Cubitec from DWR.

The rocking chair looks like the Lilliberg rocking chair from Ikea.

Ah! Found the crib bedding. It's Litto Kids - Magic Garden Crib Bedding Set available here:

I would love to use a floor finish similar to the one in this picture (beautiful!) for clients in the future. Anyone know if this is painted wood or something else?

Job very well done!

Orange Blue Rules! I notice the art (Is that a painting of clouds? On gridded paper?) in this room is stuck to the wall with blue & orange pieces of tape. Is there some kind of ultra-sticky & non-damaging tape for hanging paper that I'm unaware of? I like the home-made look of it, but everytime I try to stick drawings to the walls with strips of tape they fall down within days.

This reminded me of a similar orange and blue nursery at marthastewart.com -- same shiny floors:

Love blue and orange! I have been slowly changing my son's room from blue-brown to blue and orange.
The floors are to die for. Love the bedding too.

Great color combo! A bit less traditional for girls... but, I did my 2nd daughter's nursery in this color scheme, and I love how it came out. Photos are posted at http://www.roomzaar.com/rate-my-space/Nurseries/Bright--Cheerful-Nursery-for-Baby-Girl/detail.esi?oid=6655577.
