ERKrib

2009-01-08-crib.jpg

Since having our first baby a short 2 1/2 years ago, the modern baby furniture industry has come a long way. Despite the numerous cribs to choose from, some of you might be looking for something more custom. We found the modern ERKrib by Etsy seller janedandy and wanted to share.

The ERKrib is made of stacked birch plywood. According to janedandy, no adhesives are used and there are only six mechanical connections making the crib easy to assemble. As you'd expect, the ERKrib is custom made to order with a price tag to match ($2400). Check out more photos here.

Gorgeous crib, but I would be very concerned about it safety-wise. Crib safety guidelines always recommend you not have any newel posts or other cutouts that can catch an infant's clothing and result in strangulation. And this crib has 44 individual opportunities for trouble...

I like the all the clean, straight lines, but it's a little too cagelike for my tastes. The modern baby stuff really has come a long way. I had my first baby in 05, now with the second one on the way, I'm amazed at how many more (affordable) options are out there for cool furniture, bedding, etc.

Are they nuts? The top of that thing looks like a baby gallows--there's no way that this thing meets safety requirements.

I agree with Julie K. This looks like a cage.

Jane Dandy here. Came across your post and wanted to respond to the safety concerns raised. I assure you that this crib was designed and built to meet the Code of Federal Regulations Title 16, Part 1508 Requirements for Full-Size Baby Cribs. It is baby-safe!
