Seimi Bassinet

The Seimi Bassinet has been around, but its beautifully understated style may have caused us to overlook it. Which is part of the charm - it blends in easily in any room so it can move from parents' bedroom to living room or wherever you'd like to keep an eye on your baby.

Our favorite feature may be the mesh covering (described by Seimi as "woven paper yarn") which both allows for air-flow and visibility for both you and your baby. The mesh is available in white, natural, putty, pink and lime. You can purchase the wooden base in either oak or birch.

The Seimi Bassinet is sold by the Scandinavian Design Center ($484 plus shipping from Sweden) or Modern Nursery ($590).

A tad on the pricy side but I like it. Definitely more attractive than the Pack-N-Play monstrosity that occupied my living room for the better part of a year after my daughter was born.

I really like it - it's beautiful and I'm sure it's well made, but I don't see how the price is justified. I'd love to use a bassinet instead of a giant crib for my not-yet-born overdue baby, but I worry about airflow issues with the typical small bassinets. I'd like to find a knock-off of this or just something similar.
