Sweet Pea Modern Crib

2008-02-25-sweetpea.jpg

We've been on a roll lately hunting for modern looking, well-made affordable cribs. Here's another option for those of you on the prowl.

The Modern Crib by Sweet Pea comes in a cherry and white finish (the picture looks more like an espresso finish to us). It's made of solid hardwood and converts to a toddler bed. The best part is the built-in bookcase at one end of the crib. If you were considering including a bookcase in to the nursery, this design might save you a bit of floor space.

The Modern Crib is available at JC Penney for $349.99.

This is amazing...i was a bit skeptical reading the "affordable" part but 349.99 is doable!

That's cool that it converts to a toddler bed & has a bookcase. Man, I wish it was around earlier; my 2 year old is moving out of his crib and that'll go to his new brother. ...I was trying to find a worthy argument for getting that crib, but a toddler bed is only 80 dollars. :)

I will pretend I didn't see this and think of how perfectly it would have worked in my nursery had I not just had my parents order a similar crib for $399 and without a bookcase. :-\

Great looking crib, but the edges of the bookcase look a bit sharp. They should be more curved like the other end of the crib.

Ugh! Seeing all of these great, inexpensive modern cribs that you guys have been posting recently really makes me wish that I'd discovered ohdeedoh 4 months ago before I bought what I thought was an inexpensive modern crib! Oh well... there's always the next baby!

Okay, I guess I'm in the minority here but I don't like this. I find it weird to have the bookcase on one end - looks lopsided or something. I don't know...good in concept but not in execution?

Love it.
I will never understand why people spend money on toddler beds. They use them for such a small amount of time, it's a waste of money and manufacturing.

Love it!
It would be great if ohdeedoh would put all of these great cribs together in a list, so I could access it later (hoping to get prego soon:) when I'm ready to do a nursery.
Also other lists like great rockers, non-toxic stuff, bouncers, etc would be so helpful so I can clear out my bookmarks... A clickable top 10 of all these things wound be great! Just thought I'd throw that out there:)

what i wish is that any of these fantastic cribs you keep showing me were available in Canada!
Modern... yep I can get a modern crib, but not an affordable one... not even from the same stores like Toys R Us or Wal-mart! They don't carry these products in Canada!

Looks amazing on picture, I wonder if the quality is the same as the price...I would recommend to see it and touch it before buying. I purchased the Superbed 7 in 1 Crib for my first son, it wasn't cheap at 2000 but we got 2 rooms out of that crib. It's a crib and changing table with storage attached, then it turned into a full size bed, desk, night stand and wall shelves...so after doing all the calculations it actually came out cheaper then purchasing all new furniture for him. We love the quality! it lived through A LOT of abuse from my son and still going strong!
When buying furniture think "long term", there's nothing worse then buying stuff and throwing it away in a year or two because the quality sucks...and then buying again, u actually spend the same if not more then if you would of purchased good quality to begin with....
