What’s Your Most Cherished Family Heirloom “Score”?

heirloom030909.JPGOut of all my sixteen cousins, I was lucky enough to end up with my grandma’s Art Deco cedar chest. Someone gave it to her as an engagement gift in 1942. My mother says if she ever wanted a moment alone with my grandma growing up (not so easy with seven siblings running around), she’d perch on that cedar chest while Gram was making the bed. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to have it in my home....

When we moved my grandma from her house into a nursing home I was lucky enough to get her huge box of recipes. She was known for always having lots of cookies around when people stopped by, and now I have hundreds of her hand written recipes.

My family is weird, there are names under things indicating who gets what when the g-rents die.
My sister and I used to help grandma make bread when we were small and I really wanted that bowl.
It's totally nothing special to look at, but the memories are there.
I also have her old dresser thing, I think it's supposed to be a make up table or something, that I've been using as a change table for the last 4.5 years. It was a wedding gift to my grandparents nearly 62 years ago :)

I got the red wooden skis my mom learned to ski with and my grandfather's collection of antique lift tickets. They are in my son's room and look great. As the oldest, I also reclaimed many of the things that were originally for me that had been passed down over the years...my Jenny Lind junior bed, the dollhouse my mom made with a plywood kit, a tiny rocking chair. I'm still angling for the little ice cream parlor table and chairs set and the mod rocking horse my mom made. I didn't get the cradle, but that thing was a bad accident waiting to happen, anyways.
