Green Ideas: Fabric Wrapping

Yesterday we shared some great ideas for greener wrapping paper. Well, here's another thing you can try that's already an elegant tradition in Asian countries like Korea and Japan, and it won't add any waste to the trash bag this holiday season.

We've noticed when visiting Korea that packages were tied up in pretty fabrics. The neat thing was, the way the fabric was tied provided a built in handle for the packages as well. Kids even carry their books in the fabric. Another great thing: no need for tape or scissors. The fabric wrapping is known as Furoshiki in Japan and Bojagi in Korea.

Of course you can use any fabric that you have- an extra scarf, leftover fabric from a project, etc. But if you don't have any extra fabric, you can find scarves specifically for wrapping over at Bobo Wrap or Wrap Natural.

Visit Bobo Wrap for a video demo of how to tie the fabric. You choose the size and pattern or print.

SUCH a great idea!
The best furoshiki cloths I have seen are the Furoshic cloths at www.jennywrenpaperie.com. Amazing patterns by a fantastic illustrator and really reasonably priced too!
