Just buy a wooden initial, paint, and attach a piece of ribbon with super glue. You can also give it a glossy finish. We're thinking you could go a number of directions/styles with this- substitute the ribbon with twine for a more rustic look, or even spray paint a metallic paint on the letter for a more modern take.
