Ikea Finds

2008-07-30-ikea red hook.jpg
We finally hopped on the free shuttle over to the new Ikea in Brooklyn to check it out and get some stuff. Five hours and a few stops in the Swedish restaurant/cafe later, we emerged with a few good finds. (some were on our list, some were not).

2008-07-30-slippers.jpgEvery since we saw this AT post last year, we've been looking for cheap slippers to stock our own round basket that sits on our entryway bench. We finally decided Ikea was the best way to do that. Their white slippers are just $1.99 each so you can buy a bunch.

2008-07-30-snille.jpgThough it wasn't quite what we had pictured from the online photo, we did wind up with the Snille visitor chair, previously posted on here. After sitting in the chair with the stationary legs, and also testing out the swivel legs, we have to agree with one of the comments- the stationary legs seem much better. The swivel felt cheap.

2008-07-30-vacker.jpgThere was a good question not too long ago on Over the Door Storage. Well, this Vacker Hanging Organizer is meant for the closet because it has two sides, but could also work on a wall or door if you only use one side. We liked the clean design and the price- just $4.99.

Although we originally had a basket in mind, we wound up with this Knodd Bin. It's a big enough size to toss in loose toys/stuffed animals, and we like the fact that the lid conceals it all. It also has a nice clean look with the cream steel and silver handles.

Well, those are unfortunately- just a few of our finds from yesterday. Tell us if we missed something great that you've found!

The cat and dog tents are also the perfect size for baby doll "camping".

I too really liked the Snille chair, however after one year with them three of four have cracked where the back meets the seat. The chairs are still usable, although unstable. This is not a huge deal with a $15 chair I suppose, but worth noting.

Twittering bird-would you mind posting your paint brand and colors-especially the two greens on the nursery wall? Thanks so much! The nursery is beautiful.

One of my favorite recent finds was for the kids' playroom. I got these http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40127912. I put three on a cool rod (also at Ikea) and use them for art supplies. Using vertical space, they can take the bin they are using off the rack and then return it to it's spot once their masterpiece is complete. No more crayons strewn about.

I also like the basic magnetic strips for displaying the art. Really, I could go on....

Alex 17, sorry for the delay...
The green on the wall is Valspar 6003-3B Martinique Dawn in eggshell and the green used for the mural is Valspar MS245 Spiny Sea Urchin in semi-gloss.

For the drawers - Valspar 5004-9C Beach Sparkle (blue)
and Valspar 6010-4 Amazon Silt - both in semi-gloss.
