apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Jonathan Adler Pillows

Whether he means to or not, many of Jonathan Adler's designs belong in the nursery.

Remember the giraffe lamp showing up in nurseries (or at least on wishlists) everywhere?

Now we want to add some pillows to the mix. This stylized whale pillow is full of whimsical charm.

Mr. Adler also designed snail and turtle pillows in similar shades of blue and an added touch of green. The pillows are 16 x 16 square, made of hand loomed wool, and stuffed with feather/down. Each is $95 and available here.

i get that apartment therapy has kind of a niche market, but i'd love to see more *inspired* and stylish items that are actually affordable on this site. $95 for a pillow? yes, it's lovely - but not exactly realistic.

If you're looking for less expensive animal pillows, Urban Outfitters has some darling Eleanor Grosch ones one sale for $18. I just bought the owl and the pigeon (for our living room, not for my son's room!).

"Whether he means to or not, many of Jonathan Adler's designs belong in the nursery." I couldn't agree with this statement more.

Personally, I just don't see the appeal. These are suitable for a child's room but like these pillows, I wouldn't even consider many of his designs for the rest of my house.

I will say that with an almost-four-year old running around, the last thing I'd do would be to add $95 dollar pillows to the house! We have nice things, and have tried to keep our house design savvy since having our little one, but he to him, pillows are just toys. He builds with them, jumps on them, moves them around the house . . . it's just not an area that would be wise to sink that sort of money into.

Now lamps are a different story . . . although my son did pull my Miss Flos lamp off a bureau once a few years ago . . .

What molly said. Seriously, $95 for a throw pillow? If I had that kind of money to throw around, I wouldn't be living in an apartment.

You are right about that, he has a special warm and cozy style, perhaps at some point we all want to share the same coziness with babies. Now I got a clue about redesigning my bedroom but I still have to check some mattresses that would fit my design ideas.
