Roundup: Decorating with Clothes

2009-01-12-clothes.jpg
We love the idea of using a special outfit for decor in a child's room. There's just something about those tiny clothes hanging on a wall or closet door. We have a few ideas and we rounded up a few photos for inspiration...

How about framing an ethnic outfit or a Christening dress that has been passed down for generations? A special sweater that was knitted by a relative resting on a closet door handle looks casual. If you used clothing to adorn any part of your nursery, tell us how!

I knew I wanted an aqua, red & white room for my daughter's nursery--I thought I might want cherries on some of the fabric, but that was as much as I had planned. A month or so after my plan came together, I ran to Kohl's to buy some picture frames and saw 'the dress' A sweet little aqua sundress with red smocking, cherries on the fabric, and red and white trim at the neck and sleeves (like butcher's twine). It was her entire room in one dress--she never wore the dress, because she was too big when she came home from Ethiopia, but it hangs in the nursery all the same. Such a sweet dress in such a sweet little room--it makes me smile every time I see it on the back of her door.

Great idea for a post! I love decorating with clothes.

My daughter's christening dress hangs on the door to her bedroom. A friend made the dress from my mom's wedding dress, making it doubly special. The pin on the center of the dress was handed down to Daisy from her great grandmother. There's a lot of love hanging on Daisy's door!

I also have Daisy's tiny tiny hospital shirt on the inside door of her armoire. A continuous reminder of her sweet start in life.

the story behind the tutus and dresses in our room:
each tutu was from a birthday (we recently added yet another for amelie's first birthday!) the dresses were zoe and amelies first dresses, they only wore once, i just had to get them in the room somehow! decorating with eensy baby clothes=fun:)
