Vipp For Babies

2007-05-29-vipp.jpg

Our space is small so we're attracted to multi-use items. We'd like to get rid of the Diaper Genie - it takes up space and it's an eyesore - and just use the trashcan in the bathroom for soiled diapers and wipes.

But our little open bin trashcan won't do for containing odor. Vipp's stainless steel wastebasket provides a great solution. We have coveted it since first seeing it in person years ago. The Vipp trashcans come with an inner bin for easy cleaning and a rubber ring to keep odors in. Its modern industrial vintage styling looks great in the bathroom. Comes in a variety of colors and sizes and starts at $255 here.

It's nice and all, but for (at least) $255 a pop, I will stick with my "eyesore" Diaper Champ for $30. I would rather spend $255 on something besides a trash can :).

I make do with a $5 plastic diaper bucket for the cloth diapers and wipes, but my heart yearns for a bright Vipp (green, pink...)

I got a bright green Vipp for my nursery, and though it contains odors while closed, you get a nasty whiff when you open the bin to toss in a soiled one. I am constantly disinfecting the rubber ring (which is absorbing the odor).

yes, baby shit stinks. Just like ours. If you don't want to smell it, get rid of it. Use clothes diapers which you rinse right away in the toilet and in the sink. Wash your baby's butt in the sink, don't use disposable tissues.
In the very seldom cases I use disposable diapers, I throw them with the "regular" garbage and take it out after I'm done.

We bought a small simple human can with a built in deoderizer. It includes a removal liner that makes for easy clean up and uses standards grocery store bags. It holds about 24 hours worth of diapers which keeps us honest. No issues with odors. Anything will work if you change it frequently.
