In her own words, "The rich cranberry red, the warm orange of pumpkin and sweet potatoes, the perfect honey brown of a crisp turkey — it’s already a gorgeous color palette."
For the children, she plans on using a puppet as a placeholder, and a fun kit unrolled with crayons, small toys- for a place mat.
Read more about the planning and even research she did (She's Canadian!) to plan out this American Thanksgiving at Design Public's blog.
I like the idea of painting the pumpkins white...

When we travel with our children, we *do* bring small toys to play with before our food arrives, to keep them from getting too antsy and difficult. But I have to say that I think that there is too much of an emphasis on play in this kid table design. If my kids got this sort of a set-up, they would skip the food, drink the juice and play.
We need to teach kids to eat politely when they visit friends and family. Yes, it means that kids will finish faster than adults, and will be off playing before we are done, but the emphasis should be on the food. Last night, we had 4 children 6 and under for dinner (at the main table, not a kids table), and it worked out fine -- and no toys.
As for the adult table, I don't like the fussy design of the linens. Would instead have chosen plain raw linen fabrics. My favourite piece is the gold-lined bowl with cranberry sauce; looks to me to be by Tsé Tsé, who have some similar beautiful pieces.

mschatelaine, you took the words right out of my mouth. Crayons and toys just don't mix well with food.

Did anybody read the children's book Bunnicula, about a vampire bunny who sucked the juices out of vegetables and left them white? That's what those white pumpkins remind me of.

Jenny, I heart Bunnicula!
I love the black and white linens idea.
