Personally, we never minded being seated at the kids' table at big family meals (who wants to listen to adults blather on anyway?). And we surely wouldn't have minded sitting at this table covered in simple brown kraft paper that the host can decorate beforehand and that young diners can doodle on throughout.
This would be a fun idea for any kind of party, not just Thanksgiving dinner. Sweet Paul fashioned this for Country Living (see more of their Thanksgiving party ideas here) and if you don't have kraft paper at home, steal a few feet from your kids' roll of art paper. Lay out crayons, markers or stamps and their artwork will fit right in with the gravy spills!

I completely love this and know my kids will too. So simple and such fun!
