It's fun to surprise the kids in small ways, when they least expect it. We love ideas that are simple, inexpensive and quick and this fun DIY food stencil idea definitely makes the grade.

Jessica of How About Orange created this stencil for Saturday morning lattes but you can easily use her great idea for hot cocoa, cakes, cupcakes, pancakes, etc. She drew her design on a piece of paper and then placed a plastic lid on top. She then used an X-acto knife to cut the design out of the plastic lid to create the stencil. Simple and easy and free. This would work well for kids' birthday parties as well.

Not just for kids! My man loves hot chocolate and this idea will go over big. Tip: to save time, use prebought stencils found found at any office supply store.
