Get a Jump Start on Halloween Decorating

2009-09-valuevillage.jpg

If Rite Aid can put out their Halloween goods in August, you can certainly start decorating in September. Or at least start planning. The always imaginative Blair Stocker was tapped to create easy and fun Halloween crafts and decorations for Value Village's website and they are perfect ideas for time-pressed or talent-pressed parents.

Whether you're planning a Halloween party or just like to get your home in the mood, you'll find ideas, instructions and templates for a load of projects including trick-or-treat totes made from old tshirts, eyeball goblets and glasses, a "batty" photo backdrop for memorable party or costume photos and, maybe our favorite, spooky silhouettes you can print out and frame.

You can find these projects and more at Value Village and read more about Blair's process and the fun photo shoot at her fab blog Wise Craft.

I'm working on a Star Wars theme this year. I'm decorating with twinkling lights, black paper and cheap light saber toys. I also bought a little Yoda and a little Princess Leia costume for the kids online (http://babycostumesusa.com).
