Sewn Treat Bags

2009-08-25-bags.jpg

We love this easy tip to make your treat bags and packaging look special. Get out your sewing machine!

Using a simple zig zag stitch turns ordinary paper into something beautiful. This bag was made from pages of an old vintage children's book, but you can use any paper you'd like for the project (we loathe to rip apart a book). A quick and inexpensive way to customize packaging.

How about stickers on a sheet, fake tattoos, a sucker, hair bows, tickets to the aquarium, zoo, puppet theatre, etc. My list of "treats" could be endless!

scan the image in from your favorite vintage books, print out on iron on paper, iron onto (hopefully repurposed) fabric, and sew! nothing gets destroyed.

oh, i see! i was thinking of edible treats and how the paper wouldn't work so well . . . but yeah, there are tons of little non-food treats you could tuck into a sleeve like this. and fruit leather, which my boys call "treat leather" anyway!
